Drivers are requested to leave the vehicle at home as the road work is busy. Burial Junction for 16 weeks
This Greater Manchester’s latest road ready to welcome a new CYCLOPS junctionSeparate lanes for pedestrians and cyclists to help keep road users safe.
But work is expected to continue until November 1. And drivers are being warned to expect an obstacle.
The exit slip road to Angolium Way will be closed for the duration of the work, while the entrances and exits of Market Street will also be closed.
Transportation for Greater Manchester (TfGM) says the roads around the works are likely to be congested and slow, while short trips can be ‘faster than walking and cycling’.
A TFGM spokesman said: “This work is due to the fact that it is directly next to the interchange, and because of the efficient handling of traffic when the turn is upgraded. But the external slip will be closed.
The entrances and exits of Market Street will also be closed for a period. These restrictions will be in place at all times for the duration of the work.
“If you have to drive, please plan before each trip and consider relocating to your local area to avoid delays.
“At work, it may be easier for you to consider switching to Metrolink and leaving the car at home.”
The works will also affect bus services – 93, 97, 163, 467, 468, 471 (Rochdale), 481, 483, 494, B2, B4, R2 and X63 routes.
