Mohammadi Sporting defeated Indian Air Force 4-1
Bangalore United defeated Central Reserve Police Force Football Club (CRPFFC) while Jamshedpur FC defeated Sadiva Delhi in their respective 130th Durand Cup fixtures on Monday.
Muhammadan Sporting opened the tournament on Sunday with a 4-1 win over the Indian Air Force football team, featuring Milan Singh (19 ‘), Arijit Singh (31’), Azharuddin Malik (45 ‘) and Marcus Joseph (77). I-League Second Division Bangalore United climbed Pedro Manzi’s strike in the 63rd minute to give a 1-0 victory over the 10-member CRPF side at Kalyani Stadium.
Pedro Manzi, a former I-League winner with Chennai City, missed a few chances in the first half. He hit the crossbar with a direct free kick just minutes before hitting the winner at home in the second half. The Spaniard made a long delivery in the box before the extravagant Mondal found the back of the net.
The CRPF completed the tie with 10 men as Musa Anthony was sent off in the 71st minute to handle the ball outside his area in an attempt to block Luka Majson’s shot.
The win puts Richard Hood second in the table in Group A, thanks to a strong win in the Muhammadan opener.
Jamshedpur FC defeated Sadio Delhi.
Jamshedpur FC started their first Durand Cup campaign with a 1-0 win over Sadiva Delhi at Mohun Bagan Ground.
Indian Super League (ISL) academy graduate Lilrutmoya scored in the 34th minute which ultimately proved to be the match winner. Lalrawatmavia took advantage of a defensive error to find himself through the goal before placing the ball in the bottom left corner.
For Sadiva, FC Bayern Under-19 World Squad players Sabhu Paul came close to equalizing from the penalty spot but Jamshedpur goalkeeper Vishal Yadav ruled it out.
Jamshedpur is currently top of Group B. FC Goa will take on Army Green in the same group on Tuesday.
