Good Morning Britain’s Alex Barris Ford targeted Gavin Williamson for his ‘unforgivable’ mix-up.
The weather presenter was asked to join the conversation as hosts Susanna Reid and Martin Lewis discussed the latest news headlines.
He was accompanied by broadcasters Ain Dale and Ayesha Hazakira, speaking to the Secretary of Education with Darren Lewis of the Daily Mirror.
Mr Williamson came under fire after it was revealed that he had linked footballer Marcus Rashford with rugby star Maru Atoje.
Rashford laughed at a bizarre mistake Wednesday when the Secretary of Education mistakenly said the couple met during an interview.
Mr Williamson described the Manchester United player as “busy, sympathetic and charming”. He spoke to the Evening Standard. When a footballer used his platform to campaign for children’s poverty during epidemics.
But his team later confirmed to reporter Susanna Butter that Mr Williamson meant a rugby player.
Speaking at GMB, Martin claimed that Mr Williamson was “pretending” to be engaged to Rashford before calling him “reckless”.
Susanna then asked Alex about her experience with mix-ups, revealing that viewers often confuse her with co-star Sean Fletcher.
“Yeah, I mean, Sean and I have made mistakes for each other many times, and I don’t know why he has more hair than me,” he replied.
On Mr Williamson’s mistake, Alex added: “It was an eye-popping moment, as I say it has happened to me and Sean a dozen times, more than a dozen times, and on the scale of ignorance it Definitely exists.
“It forces you to ask, ‘As much as I want you to see us, I want you to see me. We don’t all look the same.’
He then concluded his remarks by saying: “This is unforgivable and we have to ask this question: is it time for Gavin Williamson to go back to school?”
Rashford unfortunately retweeted a tweet about the mistake. Writing: “Accent could be a gift,” adding a laughing emoji.
Maru also tried to take him in a good sense of humor, tweeting: “Recent speculation has made it necessary for me to confirm that I am not Marcus Rashford.
“And while we’re here, my name is not even Mario!”
“Lots of love, Marco; I mean, hit it off.”
