Kate Garaway has revealed the emotional moment she shared with a stranger that caused her to take a U-turn.
Of Good morning uk The presenter opened up to fans on Instagram just before a big night for her and her husband Derek Draper.
As fans know, Derek contracted the corona virus last March and was soon put into an excited coma.
The virus “wreaked havoc” on the body of a 54-year-old man, damaging various organs.
After spending more than a year in hospital, Derek returned to his family’s home in April and now receives 24-hour care.
Wife Kate filmed an ITV documentary earlier this year that showed Derek’s condition and the reality of his and his family’s struggles during Derek’s recovery.
Kate Guerrero: Finding Derek has been nominated for a National Television Award, the ceremony will take place tonight (Thursday).
But Kate has talked about feeling “cracked” when asked to vote – and said she’s not going to the awards at all.
He shared on Instagram on Wednesday night, “You’re very worried about asking for votes for tomorrow’s nomination for our documentary #FindingDerek’s nominationofficialntas.”
“I’m very proud of it but I felt I shouldn’t ask for more from you. I also wondered if I shouldn’t go to such a glittering event and spend time with the family I need
“But a stranger changed my mind!”
The TV star explained: “She was passing by our house and said ‘I hope you win.’ She looked scared.
“But you should,” he said. “My sister died two weeks ago from a concussion. Her heart was destroyed by a virus last summer. ۔ ‘
“It broke my heart. So now I’m asking you to vote – not for me but to highlight the thousands of people who have lost their lives and livelihoods to Quaid, and the thousands of people who Are fighting a devastated war.
“In addition, for the millions of other people who are facing the dreaded diagnosis of any disease, the provocative wait for treatment is to deal with our NHS stress.”

Kate recalls Thursday’s GMB story, with Susanna Reid and Martin Lewis throwing their support behind fellow actors and friends.
She said she felt “very emotional” but would attend the awards.
Marin encouraged him to go with his “head high” and hoped he would celebrate the show as he would host GMB tomorrow.
