Polling for the inaugural continental competition was held on Thursday
Memlody Sundowns Ladies head coach Jerry Shishabala competed against teams from neighboring countries while performing on an interesting game in the Cosfa Kiev Women’s Champions League.
The Sundowns Ladies are in Group A, which also includes Lesotho Defense Force, Botswana’s Double Action Ladies and Iswatini’s Manzini Wanderers.
“It’s an interesting group we’ve found ourselves in. We’re drawing with teams from our neighboring countries, Lesotho, Botswana, and Iswatini, and I’m very happy with that,” Tsabala told the media.
“I look forward to playing in this tournament because it is the only opportunity for our women to go there and prove their worth on the African continent. If you look, you will see three teams from other groups. Yes, but we are in a group of four and it has its advantages and disadvantages.
“I would say the advantage is that it will give us plenty of time and give us a chance to see how other teams play. The disadvantage is that we will have less time to rest because You play as much as you can, maybe take a day off. “
The coach emphasized the importance of emerging at the top of his group as he hopes to imitate his male counterparts by lifting the continental trophy. The Sundowns’ main teams emerged as African champions in 2016.
“If we found ourselves in Group B, we would play less games with more time to relax, that’s the only way. Someone would say they’re happy with the draw, but what about us as a team?” “We need to go there and win our group,” he added.
“Winning our group gives us a chance to set foot in Cairo and I’m sure the girls are looking forward to it. We have a chance to get out there to show off their talents as the Mamlodi Sundance Ladies.” “We will try and emulate it. Our men’s team and hope to bring home the cup.”
“I’m really excited about this lottery.”
