Kimberly Walsh says she is heartbroken as she pays tribute to Sarah Harding after her death over the weekend.
Girls’ vocalist Sarah died tragically on Sunday at the age of 39.
She revealed last August that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer, which had spread to other parts of her body.
Her mother Marie announced her death on Instagram, calling her “beautiful” daughter “a shining star.”
Sarah’s colleagues Nicola Roberts and Nadine Coyle said they were “absolutely devastated” to pay tribute Sunday evening.
Kimberly, 39, shared her message on Instagram on Monday morning.
With a series of throwback snaps, the singer and actress wrote: “Beautiful Sarah, it hurts a lot. Waking up and knowing you’re really gone is too much to bear.
“Listening to your contagious laughter was one of my favorite things in the world.
“Your fire burned and you loved, lived and laughed a lot. Sending love and strength to everyone who is sad today.”
He added: “My heart is broken.”
Sharing a series of photos of her during the early years of Girlswood, Nicola wrote on Instagram: “I’m devastated and I can’t accept that this day has come. My heart aches. And what we spent all day together is haunting my mind.
“Especially since this last year has been a difficult year for her, our new memories are strong in my heart.
“There are so many things to say and at first it felt personal to put them here and then I remembered that many more people were grieving.
“Neither I nor a part of us is here anymore and it’s unimaginable and painful and utterly cruel. She loved your messages today.”
Nicola called her bandmate “Electric Girl” and added: “You gave her everything and still with a smile.
“A white butterfly flew out of my window this morning before I knew it would be you.”
Nadine posted a photo of Harding with a smile on Instagram, saying she was “absolutely devastated” by the news.
He added: “I can’t think of words that could possibly feel about this girl and what it means to me !!
“I know many of you will be feeling that way. For now I am sending you so much love !!!”
