An investigation is underway into the stabbing to death of a man at the YMCA in St. Helens on Monday evening (August 2).
Mercy Side Police. It was reported that a man in his 30s had stabbed a charity housing property on North Road at around 10.50 last night.
He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead at the scene.
This person has not yet been formally identified.
His relatives have been notified and he is being supported by specially trained officers.
A 40-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
He is in custody where he is being questioned by spies.
Detective Inspector Jenny Beck said: “The investigation is still in its infancy.
“We are questioning many witnesses and CCTV to find out what happened.”
North Road is closed in both directions.
