Sarah Harding’s consultant in Christie’s speaks after the tragic death of the 39-year-old Girlwood star.
Dr Sacha Howell, who was treated for breast cancer at Manchester Hospital, said Sarah’s case was “unusual”.
The Stockport-based singer announced last August that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer in early 2020 before it was discovered that the cancer had spread to other parts of her body.
Dr Howell told Sky News: “It’s very rare to die at this age, although breast cancer is the most common cause of death in women between the ages of 30 and 50.
“And as we all know, it’s getting more and more common with your age.
“So it’s still uncommon for women in their 30s to develop the disease, but unfortunately when they do, it’s a little more aggressive.
“It simply came to our notice then.
Christie paid tribute to Sarah and said: “We are deeply saddened by the death of Sarah Hardinge, Christie’s patient.
“Our thoughts are with her family at this difficult time.”
Sarah, who released a single to raise funds for the Cancer Center, previously praised Christie’s ‘amazing’ doctors, nurses and all the staff and called them ‘real angels’.
In a heartbreaking post shared on Instagram yesterday, her mother Marie broke the news that her “shining star” had died after being diagnosed with trauma.
