Supermarket giant Tesco has announced a new store service that supermarket shoppers will love.
The clothing change business, Zip Yard, today opened its first store at Stratford’s Tesco Xtra (10). Th August). The launch is a new partnership being tested at three Tesco stores in the UK, offering shoppers access to repair, replacement, upcycling or retail clothing and home accessories to stay fit and longer.
Neluka Dunning, owner of The Zip Yard UK Master franchise, said: “We are pleased to be working with Tesco to provide Zip Yard stores in its Tesco Extra stores.
“Clothing has the fourth biggest impact on the environment after housing, transport and food, and as a result, about ڈالر 140 million worth of clothing is thrown away every year – mostly on landfills.
“Wearing something for nine months can reduce its carbon footprint by 20-30% and we hope buyers will bring their clothes for replacement and repair instead of throwing them away.
“Our company’s mission is to give more people the opportunity to extend the life of their clothing, and Tesco Extra Zip Yard stores will do the same.
“From simple zipper repairs to pants change and wedding dress and suit tailoring, we will offer personalized service and exceptional quality to every customer and allow professional tailoring to fit rooms on our site.”
Two more Zip Yard stores will open at Tesco Extra Stores in September and October in Tottenham, Nottingham and South Hall, London.
The Zip Yard at Stratford’s Tesco Extra Store will be open six days a week and there will be on-site fitting rooms for tailoring services.
Early hours: Tuesday – Saturday 10am – 6pm, Sunday 11am – 5pm.
