The owner of the car was threatened by two men with large sticks while trying to steal car parts. In Prestoch.
Police were called to Milton Road just before 2.30pm on Monday (September 6).
Officials say two men threatened the owner of the vehicle to leave the scene at the gray Volkswagen Golf, which is believed to have been stolen.
Police patrolling Chatham Hill then saw the vehicle and began pursuing it.
The vehicle was dropped off at Berkeley Street and a man was taken into custody after being chased.
A gray Volkswagen Golf, previously stolen from Rochdale, has been recovered.
Several items were stolen from the vehicle, including catalytic converters.
A weapon used in the robbery was also found.
A 22-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and theft and is being held for questioning.
An investigation is underway, a spokesman said. GMP Said.
In a statement, the force said: “Police were informed just before 2:30 pm today (Monday, September 6) that two men were trying to steal spare parts for a car on Milton Road in Prestoch.
“They threatened the owner of the car with a large stick, before leaving the scene in Gray VW, which was thought to have been stolen.
“Road policing unit officers patrolling the Chatham Hill area saw the vehicle engaged in a long chase before leaving on Berkeley Street. After a short chase, a man was arrested.
“A gray VW golf that was previously stolen from the Rochdale area has been recovered. The vehicle contained a number of stolen property items, including catalytic converters, and was considered a weapon used in the robbery. ۔
A 22-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and theft and is in custody for questioning. The inquiry is ongoing. “
