Most people think that garden swimming pools are for the rich and famous.
But one man went viral when he built a complete pond in his backyard – using only wooden planks.
A passionate DIY named Caleb Harrison shared a tic-tac-toe video showing a home pond in his back garden – and it went viral, garnering more than 56 million views on the platform.
Caleb, from Middle Tennessee in the United States, built his full-fledged swimming pool using wooden planks, for a total value of only 108 8,108 ($ 140).
He also managed to get some content for free.
Caleb’s wife, Kala, filmed the start of the project and can be seen drilling wooden planks together and putting plastic sheets and some blue tarpaulins inside.
The video then ends, leaving viewers in doubt as to whether Caleb’s DIY really works.
Some tick talkers were skeptical, one commented: “Oh … would you really think it would work I’m sorry but not at all.”
Someone else announced, “It won’t be long.”
“I think it will work unless you add water,” replied a third.
However, all proved wrong because the pellet pool is still in excellent condition after about one month – and easily holds about 3,000 gallons of water.
Speaking to the Jam Press, Kayla showed off her pool and said: “When he first started suggesting these ideas, which was actually about a week before he created it, I thought it was a little crazy. ۔
“He had a lot of ideas and they all worked, but I didn’t understand how he could build a fully functional pool in the backyard, but after searching online for several days, we came up with a viable option. Could buy. Our budget, I finally paid. “
The process didn’t take long as Caleb managed to complete his project in 12 hours a week.
His wife continued: “He used 14 pellets and he made sure they were made of oak or walnut to make them strong. Pine pellets are more fragile.
“He used scaffolding to connect all the pellets, basically building the walls, and then he took the hurricane straps which are flexible but very strong metal bands and strapped them to the corners.
“For the liner, we used some vapor barrier plastic, and then to feel that blue pool, we added a blue tarp. I helped it get the tarp and I Research which filter system and chemicals we should use.
“I also helped him paint the exterior white. And of course, I made it.
Kayla still can’t believe that her husband’s swimming pool is so tight and she is shocked by his reaction on social media.
He added: “We swim in it almost every day and have many pool parties.
“Despite everyone’s shock, you can, in fact, jump into it and it won’t break.
“I posted the original video the same day he made it. I did it as a joke because in all seriousness I was trying to go in a very different direction with my tick talk.
“The day I posted the video, I started with about 400 followers. Two weeks later, we hit 200,000.
“I’m surprised he blew it up like that but as I said before we do projects like this all the time, so we’re excited to see an audience that is ready for more and more. Enjoy what we are doing.
“We want to continue DIY projects and can’t wait to see what’s next in this crazy journey.”
