Greater Manchester Police The man, aged 30, was stabbed in the head in a bar well, which was thought to be an unprovoked attack.
Officers are continuing their interrogation and have now released a CCTV footage of a man they wanted to talk to about the attack, which took place around 12.45am on Sunday, August 8.
A GMP spokesman said: “Leh CID spies have released a CCTV footage of a man they wanted to talk about in connection with last month’s nightclub attack that left a man beheaded. But suffered serious injuries.
“It is believed that the attack took place on Sunday, August 8, at around 12.45 am in Bar Kiev, in the 30’s, at the confluence of Twist Lane and King Street.
The victim was stabbed in the head and fell on the dance floor before being taken to hospital with a skull.
“Investigators believe the attack was carried out without provocation and are asking anyone who is witnessing the incident to contact them.
“They want to hear from anyone who knows the identity of the man in the CCTV picture.”
