In the quiet village of Gostry, England footballer Rahim Sterling is already a local legend. And coming into the Euro 2020 final against Italy on Sunday night, they can be assured that the hero will be welcomed back home.
Gostry residents are ready to roar at the lions on Sunday night, especially the two pubs in the village, The Crown and The Red Lion, which will showcase the match.
And when Gostre returns, locals will line up to offer a pint and a handshake to striker Rahim.
Hayden Brown, the Crown’s deputy manager, said Rahim already had a local legendary status in the village.
Hayden said: “Everyone is joining the spirit of football now and we have a good group of people here, a proper group.
“Rahim has seen this pub many times in the past, he is a local celebrity, so if he comes back as the winner, we would all like to paint together.
“It’s nice to treat people! They don’t bother! They try their best to drink when it’s in public. He even bought a round for everyone in the pub!”
Thanks to him, the village is famous, with 17 cafe assistants remembering a special moment for Millie Perry, a Manchester City fan.
He said: “I’ve seen him in the pub and he’s a really nice guy. I know a lifelong city fan who goes to the pub and Rahim gave him a few years ago to watch the final game of the season. The box was found, it was very messy. “
Remember, this is usually the second tournament in July to draw local attention to this Cheshire village. When the gooseberry gooseberry show takes over the crown, farmers compete for the title of ‘Premier Berry’.
Even gooseberry growers are happy to have a foothold in football this weekend, with English flags flying in the countryside to attract attention from the many beautiful cottages, the townhouses of the period and the traditional texture of the mansions.
In a shopping area on Main Road, there is also excitement from local journalist Nigel Fallon, who has met Rahim several times in the past.
After buying drinks and sweets on his way to a training camp in England, he posed for a photo on a previous visit.
Nigel, 64, says: “Rahim has been here for some time now, he brought his dog for a walk and he signed some autographs – a lot of support. Manchester City Around here, as well United And of course Liverpool.
“He looks like a pretty ordinary man, and it’s great that he’s getting all the praise he deserves for England.”
Nigel says he has seen many famous faces in his shop over the years. They include David and Victoria Beckham as well as Cristiano Ronaldo during the United.
Nigel says: “I used to talk to Ronaldo sometimes when he was down the street, and I remember once there was a hot tub in his garden and the builder, who was a fan of Maine City, There was a bit of a kickbout going on.
“Some of the United team came out to see Ronaldo that day and the kids asked him if he liked any sport – and he ended up playing an invincible five-way game in the garden!”

The front door of the newsletter is near the Times Caf, where owner Wendy Langard would like to see Rahim return to the village after the tournament – when he returned, he was offered a free tuna penny (apparently his favorite).
Wendy said: “I don’t really know the footballers but I think he came to the cafe with another famous person.
“He goes to all the shops around here, he’s really that good and it’s always nice to see him.
“The last time he was here he had tuna panini and he could have liked it more if England had won that day.”
Gostry is farther south than the traditional football belt in Cheshire’s ‘Golden Triangle’. Elderly Age, Wilmslow and Prestbury.
But Gostry has a wide appeal for homeowners as the village has a train station on the main line between Manchester and Crew, and Holmes Chapel is just five minutes from M6 junction 18.
When they moved from Liverpool to Man City in 2015, Rahim and his partner Page Milli moved into their 3 3 million mansion in the area, and is now home to their two young sons, Thiago and Thai Cruz.
News Agent Nigel said: “We may be here at the bottom of the Golden Tribune, but Ghostry is a much needed place to live because we are so close to the M6 but still in the countryside.”
The scientific observatory in Cheshire of the Jostral Bank’s Level Telescope and the many features of the Gostra called the Local Symbol also have some excellent insights.
At the end of the imposed local church, St. Luke’s, in the center of the village, the Raheem and England team will share the thoughts and prayers of their Paris colleagues on Sunday morning.
Vikram Heather Buckley says Raheem will definitely be mentioned in Sunday’s sermon.
“It’s an exciting time for the England team and all the fans,” said Reverend Buckley.
“This Sunday we have the informal worship of all times, the main idea is the brave journey due to the fact that I have just returned from vacation and I will mention it in the service in connection with this footballing journey of Raheem.” !
