The death of a Nigerian rapper and songwriter was confirmed on Sunday after a fierce battle with throat cancer in the United States.
The Nigerian Super Eagles, former Everton forward Daniel Amokachi, Leganes defender Kenneth Omero, and the rest of the world have joined in mourning the death of Nigerian music legend Olan Rivajo Fassi, better known as Sultan Sultan.
Awaaz Sultan died Sunday at the age of 44 after battling angioedema immunological T cell lymphoma.
Sound Sultan, who rose to prominence under Cannes music in the early 2000s, was a wealthy supporter of the Nigerian national team and even went so far as to win the ‘No Tension’ title in the big goal tournament. Goalkeeper Emmanuel Babayaro accused the victory.
Following the tragic news of his death, the Super Eagles paid tribute to the music veteran by sharing a video of the song for the team that was released in 2014.
