Users who are using the latest beta release of WhatsApp will have the option to enable the encrypted backup feature from end to end within the app settings.
Once enabled, this feature offers users a number of mechanisms to keep their backups safe. The first involves setting a password, and the second involves the use of a 64-digit encryption key.
Regardless of which method you choose, you’ll need the password or encryption key to restore messages from your cloud backup. Because it is last-minute encryption, password / encryption never leaves your device and WhatsApp will not be able to restore your messages if they are forgotten / misled.
Note, however, that the encrypted backup feature is not yet generally available. Instead, WhatsApp has started urging users who have chosen to test the undeniable version of WhatsApp. There is no word on plans to enhance this feature of WhatsApp iOS devices And cloud platforms like ICloud.
